Bol joins forces with suppliers to reduce CO2 emissions

Climate Hub assists suppliers in starting emission reduction program

As part of Ahold Delhaize, bol contributes to the parent company’s climate goals, which are set according to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) guidelines. These guidelines aim to reduce CO2 emissions within its supply chain in line with the 1.5-degree scenario. Achieving this requires collaboration across the supply chain. Bol is calling on its suppliers to commit to this effort as well. To support them, bol is launching the Climate Hub.

At the Climate Hub, suppliers will find all the necessary information, including useful instructional videos and tips, to help them begin reducing CO2 emissions or accelerate their emission reduction efforts.

At bol, we aim to promote more sustainable shopping and minimize our activities’ impact on the planet as much as possible. We cannot do this alone. To reduce emissions, we must unite our efforts and collaborate to combat climate change. As measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a new and rapidly evolving topic for many entrepreneurs, we support our suppliers with the Climate Hub.’ 

Bol is requesting all its suppliers to commit to the SBTi’s net zero targets by the end of 2024. This commitment is a crucial step toward setting their own targets, which should be validated by SBTi within 24 months of commitment. Additionally, bol is asking suppliers with the highest expected CO2 emissions to report their 2023 emissions in 2024. Starting in 2025, bol will gradually extend this request to other suppliers. This reporting will then become part of an annual process, where suppliers report on the previous year. Suppliers are invited to report through the international climate benchmark CDP.
